14 Best Danish Watch Brands – Our Review of Scandinavian Brands

Denmark is a country famous for many things. For example, their scientific research led to the discovery of revolutionary inventions, like the current version of Google Maps as well as
insulin. They are also famous for LEGOS! However, many people are not aware that the Danish are good at making high-quality wristwatches as well.

Humans have been designing watches since the 16th century. Over the years, watches have evolved from sundials to compact wristwatches that can fit in your pocket easily, and Denmark is one of the pioneers of modern wristwatch design.

Wristwatches made in Denmark give fierce competition to the Western and Swiss wristwatch companies. Danish design is known to be stylish yet simple. Here are some good Danish watch manufacturers who are known for their excellent luxury wristwatches.

1. Nordgreen Watches

This Danish watch company makes wristwatches for both men and women, and they offer their customers a wide variety. Jakob Wagner started Nordgreen in 2017 using a crowdfunding platform called Kickstarter. In addition to being a famous wristwatch brand, Nordgreen is a very generous company that gives part of its profits to multiple charities.

Nordgreen creates beautiful scandinavian design watches. I got sent the Philosopher and it is great quality and a perfect fit for my wrist.

2. Urban Jürgensen

Urban Jürgensen is perhaps one of the oldest watch companies on Earth at almost 250 years old! It was founded in 1773 in
Copenhagen by Urban Jürgensen himself. After his demise, the company sat in non-Danish hands for a couple of hundred years before being repurchased by Dane investors back in 2014, making it a genuine Danish brand once again!
Urban Jürgensen was one of the first watch makers in Denmark and has since 1781 created pocket watches.

4. Bering

The story behind Bering watches is fascinating. Rene Kaerskov, an adventurer who formed Bering Time Inc., was visiting the North Pole in 2008. He was so mesmerized by the experience that he decided to design an analog watch that could combine the coolness of the Arctic with the simplicity of Danish design. He decided to take the help of Michael Witt Johansen and Lars Gram to come up with such a timepiece. Bering uses alot of materials like titanium, ceramics, surgical steel, and sapphire crystals to make their watches tough and cool-looking, like the frozen landscape of the Arctic.
Bering creates minimalist design watches but in my opinion more american than danish design.

legacy is kept alive by the company to this day.
Arne Jacobsen creates great danish watches. Too simply for my taste, but it’s good quality danish design.
